The Great Reading Challenge of 2020: Welcome to the Fifth Annual GRC!

Each month, we will draw a special challenge category from the “Reading Roulette” bowl. If you read a book in that month’s reading roulette category, it will count as two books read for your GRC log! There is not an empty space on the log for this category, so feel free to list any Reading Roulette categories you complete on the back of the log packet (and remember, you won't need to turn in the packet to us at the end of the year, you just report the number of books read).

The September Reading Roulette Category is:

Read a book that has two or more co-authors

Examples: Any book that has more than one author. This is not meant for anthologies or books of short stories, since those categories are already on the GRC list. Many best sellers have co-authors - James Patterson, Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child and Janet Evanovich often have co-authors. Books that are written by two people (though the name suggests one person) will work also - two examples being Ilona Andrews (husband and wife team), Christina Lauren (two women), and A.J. Rich (two women.)

Previous Reading Roulette Categories:

January: Read a book that is 200 pages or less

February: Read a survival story

March: Read a book written by an artist more famous for another medium

April: Read a book by an author who has published more than 20 books

May: Read a book with a weather-related word in the title

June: Read a book that inspires self-care

July: Read a book with water on the cover

August: Read a book that recently won an award

September: Read a book that has two or more co-authors

Sign up for the Great Reading Challenge of 2020.

The GRC is a yearlong reading challenge that is open to adults 18 and over. To complete the challenge, you need to read 18 books by the end of 2020. You can use any of the books you have already read since January 1 this year. The challenge of the GRC is to read books that fit one of the many categories. You can use the category list as inspiration, or read what you already planned to and find categories to fit. It works both ways. Registration for GRC 2020 begins on Monday, January 13, 2020, but you can register anytime during the year.
