Ben

I tend to like books with psychological or philosophical themes that stretch my imagination. I appreciate anything that makes me feel more attuned to a bigger world. I’m open to most kinds of books, but prefer them to be as honest as possible or make complex ideas and subjects easily digestible. I love character development and smart dialog. And books that don't take themselves too seriously are a reminder that I'm permitted to do the same sometimes.

Thea

My name is Thea and I work at the Recommendations Desk. I enjoy reading many different genres, but my favorites are fantasy, science fiction, mystery, and young adult. I also enjoy many different non-fiction subjects including business, true crime, self-help, science, and music. I have extensive knowledge about various musical genres including rock, classical, and musicals. I also enjoy watching TV and movies when I have the time. When I’m not reading, I enjoy playing music (flute, violin, voice), writing, playing with my cats, gardening, kayaking, and having adventures at renaissance faires around the Midwest with my husband Bob.

Sarah

My name is Sarah, and when I'm not at the library, I'm probably doing crafts while binge watching a TV series. I enjoy gardening and spending time in the water in the summer. I like audiobooks and short stories, but my favorite books come from the science fiction and romance shelves. I especially love Lois McMaster Bujold, Tessa Dare, Courtney Milan, Patrick Rothfuss, John Scalzi, Seanan McGuire, and Ursula K. Le Guin. I also enjoy comics and graphic novels.

Angie

Hi! I am Angie and a big fan of dystopian/post-apocalyptic fiction, science fiction, fantasy, cyberpunk, and Young Adult series books. I run the Geek Out book club at the library that reads many of these types of books. I also really love Harry Potter, so if you have any HP questions, ask me!

When I am not at the library, I enjoy reading, binge-watching TV shows, making jewelry, writing, walking in the fresh air and spending time with family.

Favorite authors these days: J.K. Rowling, Phillip Pullman, Rick Riordan, Pierce Brown, Sarah J. Maas, Naomi Novik, Erika Johansen, Becky Chambers, Sabaa Tahir, and Ann Aguirre. Favorite TV shows of late: The Flash, Arrow, Gilmore Girls, New Girl, The Office and Sherlock.

Bill

Hi, I’m Bill, your resident science geek. When I’m not working in the library, I’m likely outside enjoying the great outdoors. I’m a fan of non-fiction science books, non-fiction baseball books, and pop culture biography books too. I’m ok with reading books on my iPad, but am old school when it comes to enjoying a paper book in my hands. When I’m not reading about science or people, I enjoy graphic novels. If you must know, I’m DC (ask me if you’re not sure). Oh, and I really enjoy listening to current pop music while reading.

Hello, Mike here!

I am currently reading Killing Commendatore by Haruki Murakami, and next up is Melmoth by Sarah Perry.

I also recently enjoyed the graphic novel Sabrina by Nick Drnaso and the Berlin trilogy by Jason Lutes.

Cheers!
