Grant Wood Collection
The picture to the right is of the painting "Appraisal" by Grant Wood. It is one of two Grant Wood items owned by Carnegie-Stout Public Library. "Appraisal" comes from Wood's mature period in which he also painted "American Gothic."

Originally titled "Clothes," the painting offers a humorous appraisal of city and country lifestyles. The paintings can be viewed at the Dubuque Museum of Art.
