THE PRINCE by Niccolo Machiavelli was published 500 years ago, and it continues to be an influential political Western classic. Written at a time of power struggles in Italy, it described how powerful princes gained power and created stability in their kingdoms. David C. Cochran, Professor of Politics and Director of the Archbishop Kucera Center at Loras College, will moderate a discussion of this book, its continuing influence, and its view of human nature and governance. Copies of THE PRINCE (in both print form and audio) are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk.
